EFFECT OF DIFFERENT CONCENTRATIONS OF WORM HUMUS ON THE ORGANIC PRODUCTION OF Raphanus sativus L.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) is a short-cycle vegetable whose yield depends largely on soil fertility management, especially in organic production systems. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of four vermicompost concentrations (0, 10, 15, and 20 tons/ha) on the organic production of three commercial radish varieties (Crimson Giant, Varda, and Champion). The research employed a completely randomized block design, where the vermicompost concentrations constituted the treatments and the varieties the blocks, with three replicates per treatment. The experimental unit was a 1 m² plot, and yield was evaluated 40 days after sowing, expressed in kg/m². There were statistically significant differences between treatments (p < 0.05), with the highest average yield recorded in treatment T4 (20 Tn/ha) at 1.89 kg/m², followed by treatment T3 (15 Tn/ha) at 1.78 kg/m². The Crimson Giant variety showed the highest individual yield under the application of 20 Tn/ha of humus, reaching approximately 2.30 kg/m². It is concluded that the application of vermicompost, especially at a dose of 20 Tn/ha, significantly improves radish yield under an organic production system.
