URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS IN PREGNANT WOMEN AT THE OBSTETRICS-GYNECO SERVICE OF THE ADOLFO GUEVARA VELASCO NATIONAL HOSPITAL - CUSCO

Abstract
Bacterial infections in the urinary tract are very common in pregnant women and are related to premature births and low birth weight. The most frequent microorganisms are E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Staphylococcus and Micrococcus. The objective of this retrospective study was to identify the main etiological agents and antibiotic resistance in urinary tract infections of pregnant women of the Gyneco - Obstetrics service in the period of july - december 2019. 162 medical records of pregnant women were reviewed, taking positive urine culture results, etiological agents and bacterial resistance. The data obtained was analyzed with Microsoft Office Excel, and SPSS version 23.0. The main etiological agent was E. coli with a 94.4% prevalence; In addition, resistance of this microorganism to Ampicillin was observed in 39.9%, Ceftriaxone (64.7 %), Ampicillin Sulfatam (75.2 %), Aztrionan (90.2 %), Tobramycin (90.8 %), Nitrofurantoin (97.4 %), Imipenen and Amikacin (100 %). The most prevalent etiological agent of urinary tract infections was Escherichia coli and they were related to increasing age.
